INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

COOMET  is the Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrology Institutions, which was established in 1991.

The members of COOMET are metrology institutes of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Associate Member), Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany(Associate Member), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, DPR of Korea (Associate Member), Cuba (Associate Member), Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkey (Associate Member), Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

COOMET cooperates in the following fields: etalons of physical quantities, legal metrology, accreditation and quality management systems, as well as information and training.

STC Meter is a permanent working body of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification which aims at elaborating proposals for the formation of coherent agreed scientific technological policy and coordination of metrology works in the member states of the Agreement “on Coordinated scientific technological policy in the field of standardization, metrology and certification» signed by the Heads of CIS Governments authorities.

STC Meter activities in the field of interstate standardization, metrology and certification are realized on the base of the Interstate Council decisions, national bodies suggestions and recommendations of working commissions and groups.

The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) is widely known as the world's "Atoms for Peace" organization within the United Nations family. Set up in 1957 as the world's center for cooperation in the nuclear field, the Agency works with its Member States and multiple partners worldwide to promote the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technologies.

A secondary standard dosimetry laboratory (SSDL) is created and operates in the Armenian National Institute of Metrology by the assistance of IAEA, which performs verification and calibration of dosimeters used in various fields to ensure relevent level of environmental protection and safety. In the framework of technical cooperation with the IAEA a secondary standard X-ray dosimetry laboratory will be established at NIM in 2016.

PTB (Physics and Technology Bundesanstalt), German national metrology institute is a scientific and technical higher federal authority. PTB has wide experience in providing technical assistance . National Institute of Metrology of Armenia received advisory assistance of experts of PTB and exchange of experience through trainings, conferences and seminars.
